Dear Mr. Santa Claus there are things you’ve got to know
Before you rev up your old sleigh to ride the winter snow
The world is in a frightful mess, and Covid’s here to stay
So here are things to think about before your special day
Driving hard your reindeers through icy wind and snow
Could violate animal rights and that’s a big no, no
Chimneys no longer work, a relic of the past
Because the carbon in the air creates a deadly gas
The world it is a-changing, sir, and being what it is
We need to make some changes to find our Christmas bliss
People now prefer their gifts brought from the big box stores
My choice for gifts is Amazon, please leave mine at the door
And since I know you’re overweight, I’ll leave no milk or cake
So should we meet delivery day, we’ll just do a handshake
Others on your Christmas list may like their gifts by mail
’Cause if they know you drink and drive, you could end up in jail
Your elves now work for Etsy, the Grinch is here to stay
And though you still get letters, you live so far away
And children hardly write these days, they seldom leave their room
So I suspect they may prefer to chat with you on zoom
It’s time to take a holiday, you’ve worked hard all your life
It’s maybe time to call it quits, to travel with your wife
For all you’ve done and given us, I’ve nothing but good cheer
So have a Merry Christmas, sir, a tariff free new year
